Data Loggers
FloPath data loggers are self-contained instruments designed to measure and store pressure and flow variables in water distribution networks, at points where installing a full SCADA system is neither practical nor economically justified. Marfel offers the FloPath range, which includes portable submersible loggers, remote loggers with cellular communications, transient pressure loggers, and pressure management controllers, all oriented toward giving the network hydraulic visibility.
The business problem this category solves is the lack of pressure and flow data at key points in the system. Without it, leak detection, pressure management, and district metering rely on incomplete or outdated information, and brief events such as pressure surges go unnoticed between two manual readings.
Key benefits include recording average, instantaneous, minimum, and maximum values, measuring minimum night flow as a leakage indicator, detecting overpressure, and sending data remotely to a cloud platform over cellular or satellite networks. Organizations implement these loggers because they help reduce water loss and pipeline leakage with a contained, quickly deployed instrumentation investment.
From a digital transformation perspective, each logger turns a blind spot in the network into a source of historical data that feeds hydraulic analysis, district metering, and investment planning with real information.

View productA drinking water distribution network operates continuously, yet most of its points have no permanent instrumentation. Data loggers fill that middle ground: compact, easy-to-install devices that capture pressure and flow behavior at valves, chambers, hydrants, and delivery points, and make it available to the technical team without a full control infrastructure.
How it works. A FloPath logger receives pressure and flow signals, analog or digital, samples them at a configurable rate, and stores them in non-volatile memory organized into independent data files, each with its own schedule and logging rate. Data can be stored as average, instantaneous, minimum, and maximum values, preserving both the general trend and the extremes that reveal problems. In remote models, data is transmitted over 4G/5G LTE Cat M1 and NB-IoT cellular networks, with 2G options for legacy systems, or over satellite links where coverage is unavailable, to the FloPath.Cloud platform, from which pressure and flow monitoring is supervised and configured remotely.
Business value. Measuring minimum night flow using pulse interval timing makes it possible to estimate leakage in a sector without interrupting service, and overpressure detection helps protect pipes and connections before they fail. With this data, the utility prioritizes leak detection campaigns and adjusts pressure by zone based on evidence rather than estimates.
Operational benefits. Portable loggers allow temporary studies without permanent installation, while remote models deliver continuous data without field visits. Transient pressure models sample at high frequency to capture phenomena a conventional record cannot resolve, such as water hammer, useful for pipe failure analysis and for evaluating pumps and pressure relief valves.
Technology overview and integration. FloPath loggers complement a layered monitoring architecture: they provide low-cost-per-point hydraulic data that enriches district metering and network modeling, and that can be exported and integrated with SCADA platforms, geographic information systems (GIS), and asset management systems (CMMS) depending on each project's architecture.
Typical applications. Zone pressure and flow monitoring, hydraulic network modeling and calibration, pressure-reducing valve monitoring, leak detection through minimum night flow, reservoir monitoring, and hydraulic transient analysis.
Future scalability. A logger network can grow gradually, point by point, and over time consolidate into a district metering and pressure management program built on the network's own historical data.
If your organization wants to expand hydraulic visibility across its network with data loggers, Marfel's team can help define measurement points and the right configuration.
