Real-time locate and mark ground penetrating radar (GPR) for metallic and non-metallic buried utilities, with a 250 MHz UWB antenna and up to 8 m (26 ft) depth
The LMX100™ is a ground penetrating radar (GPR) designed and optimized for buried utility locating, marketed by Radiodetection and developed by Sensors & Software, a Canadian manufacturer specializing in GPR systems. It is the entry model of the LMX® family, focused on real-time locate and mark, and completes the locator's toolbox by offering a more complete picture of buried infrastructure.
The unit transmits radar pulses into the ground through a patented 250 MHz ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna and records the reflections produced by changes in subsurface properties. This principle allows it to detect metallic utilities as well as non-metallic pipes made of PVC and asbestos cement, concrete storm and sewer pipes, utilities with broken tracer wire, undocumented utilities, and trenches or disturbed soil associated with buried installations, balancing resolution with depth penetration of up to 8 m (26 ft) in suitable ground conditions.
Unlike a conventional electromagnetic locator, the LMX100 does not require the utility to be conductive or energized with a signal. Operation is straightforward: simply start collection and push the cart while the screen displays the subsurface cross-section in real time so targets can be marked on the ground. DynaT™ (dynamic target enhancement) and DynaQ® (dynamic stacking based on survey speed), together with preset filters, adjustable gain and hyperbola-fitting depth calibration, improve target visibility and depth accuracy.
The LMX100 manages results through a screenshot gallery geo-tagged by the integrated GNSS receiver, which can be sent as Wi-Fi mini reports from the site and exported in a KMZ file viewable in Google Earth™. For grid surveys, depth slices, GPR data export and post-processing with EKKO_Project™, the family offers the LMX200™ model.
