Data Logger Sofrel LS-42

The SOFREL LS42 is an IoT data logger for remote meter reading and pressure measurement in drinking water networks, manufactured by LACROIX under the SOFREL brand, which specializes in remote management and monitoring solutions for water networks. It belongs to the SOFREL DL4W 4G LPWAN data logger range and is the range model that combines district metering, remote meter reading and pressure monitoring in a single unit.

The LS42 provides 4 digital inputs for meters or status signals and 2 analog inputs for SOFREL pressure sensors or third-party sensors on a 4-20 mA loop, which it powers at 12 V or 20 V. It stores up to 100,000 data points locally and calculates average flows, night flow, daily volumes, and daily minimum and maximum flows. Data is transmitted over 2G/4G M2M cellular networks (LTE-M and NB-IoT) to the utility's SCADA system via IP communication, with daily synchronization; if the 4G LPWAN network is unavailable, it automatically switches to 2G.

Its enclosure features enhanced IP68 waterproofing, verified by an independent laboratory through 30-day immersion tests under 4 m (13.1 ft) of water, and a military-grade waterproof connector. It runs on an internal lithium battery and provides up to 10 years of battery life with 2 meter counts and 1 pressure measurement every 15 minutes, district metering calculations and one daily SCADA communication. For chambers with limited cellular coverage, it is available with the FLEX antenna option: a 4 m (13.1 ft) external antenna with IP68 certification.

The LS42 integrates with industrial supervisory systems and third-party applications used by water operators, and simplifies data use through the SOFREL WEB LS IoT platform. It communicates in inter-station mode with SOFREL S500 and S4W remote telemetry units (RTUs), and is the data logger used in the SOFREL Chlorine kit for online chlorine monitoring in distribution networks. It is configured in the field via Bluetooth.
